Mariska Breland

Mariska Breland is a Teacher of "Pilates-ish" Movement, an Inventor, an Award-Winning Creative Director and Writer, and a Student of Medical Neuroscience.
Read More Mariska has been teaching Pilates since 2003 and developed her signature style, Fuse Pilates®, as a Mat class at a yoga studio in 2005. Over the years, the Fuse Pilates method has evolved to offer unique hybrid mat, tower, reformer, and chair classes, as well as private instruction. Her classes are heavily influenced by her background in Pilates, yoga, and barre, as well as a three-year mentorship with Julian Littleford. In 2020, she sold her studios, and moved to an Online Platform and a much smaller (and more conveniently located right-downstairs) home studio.

In 2016, Mariska developed a patented apparatus called Fuse Ladder to incorporate more Pilates-inspired Standing, Hanging, and Balance exercises into her own workouts and studio offerings. Today, the Fuse Ladder is sold in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia. She leads its repertoire development, teacher training, and marketing.

In addition to her passion for creating fun and effective workouts for her group classes, Mariska is passionate about educating teachers and patients about exercise for neurological conditions. Her Pilates for Neurological Conditions workshops incorporate the latest research into Neuroplasticity and Neurorehabilitation into a Pilates-based program design for multiple sclerosis, stroke, and other neurological conditions. In 2018, Mariska expanded it into an online community called The Neuro Studio, offering online workshops for teachers and workouts for persons with neurological disease.

Mariska is a PMA@ Certified Pilates Teacher who completed her comprehensive training through BASI Pilates. She has additional training through Power Pilates, Peak Pilates, Balance Body, and PureBarre, as well as several specialty certifications.

A frequent Guest Writer for fitness and lifestyle blogs, Mariska has an upcoming TEDx Talk entitled Accidental Advocacy - How an OK Person Can Be An Exceptional Advocate. She teaches workshops around the world (virtually during pandemics), and enjoys spending time reading, letting her husband cook for her, and playing with her dog children, a Basenji named Luca and an Alaskan Klee Kai named Remy.
