In 2009, Cynthia became one of only four Grand Master Teacher Trainers world wide. Cynthia has trained all the true classical Pilates instructors operating in Australia today.
Read More Cynthia was only 16 years-old and a young dancer with the New York City Ballet when she started learning the Pilates Method from Joseph Pilates’ protégé Romana Kryzanowska and her teaching crew of colourful ex-dancers. Twenty years later when she opened the first Romana’s Pilates studio in Sydney, Australia in 1994, Cynthia chose Surry Hills because “it was the only area in Sydney that remotely reminded me of New York.”

In the 70s and 80s while still living in New York, Cynthia danced with some of the worlds greatest dance companies and choreographers who are now considered dance legends including George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, Lar Lubovitch, and Graham Murphy. She was also a cast member of the 1980 hit film Fame working with celebrated modern-dance choreographer Louis Falco. By the end of 1987 Cynthia moved to Sydney to continue her dance carrer from 1990 – 1992 with the Sydney Dance Company and later with Bangarra Dance Theatre. In 1994 she returned to New York to study as an instructor under the guidance of her teacher and mentor Romana Kryzanowska, one of the last remaining disciples of Joseph H. Pilates.

Returning to Sydney later that year as a certified instructor of the True Pilates Method, Cynthia opened The Pilates Method Studio and Training Centre in Surry Hills, Sydney and she began teacher training in 1998. Cynthia continues to travel the world, sharing her vast wealth of knowledge by visiting studios to conduct seminars, workshops and Continuing Professional Education.
