“I feel like an imposter.”
“My clients makes me crazy.”
“I can’t make ends meet.”
“I am burnt out.”
This is the side of teaching you don’t see on social media. This very real shadow haunts many teachers and sadly, many never experience being fulfilled or inspired, or worse, they give up teaching and become bitter. Yet, when they started this journey, they were inspired and loved Pilates.
This is my world, and I have been teaching and training teachers for many years. I’ve seen tears and heard stories of stress and frustration which saddened me, and led me to create Becoming: The Secrets to Thriving as a Teacher. My motivation was to address these issues and to provide a map to help you navigate through this world so that you can find and claim your authentic self. From here, you can set up a way of working and living that works for you.
But you must explore and discover what is inside you, and pay attention before you can fully step into your power.
This course takes you through eight sections to uncover your “inner and outer world” and it give you the tools you need in order to take control of your work and your life on your own terms.
These are 8 aspects every teacher must understand so that they can hold their head high and thrive:
This defines what you do and what was and still is your original motivation in becoming a teacher. This is your source of power.
This defines your high self as a teacher and how to step into this self. What type of teacher are you inspired to be?
Do you practice what you preach? Do you give to yourself the benefits that you want to give to others? How can you stay in alignment with what you say and how you live?
Who is your ideal client? Who are you uniquely gifted to serve?
What kind of business are you creating? What does this mean and why should you or anyone else care?
Do you know what is going on? What do you believe about this? Do you manage your money or does it manage you?
Do you present yourself in the world appropriately? Is this what you want the world to believe about you?
Do you have a future vision? Do you have a present vision? Where do you want to be in the future?
This is a subject that is not usually addressed in Pilates teacher training or continuing education. This course is about designing you, around your gifts and vision so you can live on your own terms. You are the only person who can write your manual.
I hope this triggered some new thoughts and self-reflection in you! Thinking is good, in fact it is the building block of creativity. Walt Disney said, “worry is a waste of imagination.” It is up to you to reach in and bring the imagination out of you.
